One question every few weeks instead of an annual survey

4 min read

§ 5 (3) No. 6 of the German Occupational Safety Act requires assessing psychological strain. Many companies do it once a year with a long questionnaire. The response rate is modest, the evaluation takes time, and by the time measures arrive, the situation has changed.

The pulse

One question every few weeks, in the daily card, rotating through the areas of the GDA guideline: work content, work organisation, social relations, work environment. Anonymous, evaluated only above the minimum group, never per person.

What it can do and what it cannot

A pulse is a screening. It shows where things turn red. Going deeper then needs a conversation: a moderated workshop with the unit concerned. Both together are an accepted procedure; the pulse alone would be too thin for inspectors.

Measure, then follow-up

Every red area becomes a measure on the board, with a date. After that date, INFIVE asks the same area again. That is how the effectiveness check required by § 3 ArbSchG comes about, without an extra project.
